COUNTRY BEATS AND DANCING FEET: DANCING IN STUART ENGLAND
SATURDAY 2 MAY 4.30PM
Shake a leg Stuart-style and discover the lively country dances once enjoyed in market squares and village greens, as recorded in John Playford’s 1651 The English Dancing Master. This first-ever country dance manual, complete with instructions and music, proved hugely popular and remained in print for over 100 years. Lynne and Mike Spicer will provide a short introduction to the history behind these traditional dances before inviting everyone to have a go. Easy to learn and great fun, this engaging
session is perfect whether you’d like to join in or simply sit back and enjoy the experience. For more information visit
